This notice is to advise you that the PHP changes will be rolled out to your hosting account on Wednesday, March 13, 2013.

As a reminder, the new default PHP version will be changed from PHP 5.2 to PHP 5.3 and we will also be adding support for PHP 5.4.

PHP 4 will be removed completely, and any files currently being parsed with PHP 4 will automatically begin using PHP 5.3. If you are using PHP 4, and you have not done so already per our previous notices, you should test your application in PHP 5.3 immediately and resolve any incompatibilities. To test your application, please check our Knowledge Base article: http://portal.menkom.com.au/knowledgebase/45/How-to-Change-your-PHP-Version.html

If you are currently using PHP 5.2 with a custom php.ini file, we will add an .htaccess file to any directory where a PHP 5.2 php.ini file is found to force the usage of PHP 5.2 for that directory. This change will affect all sub-directories of the directory where the .htaccess file is added. Any other directories on your account that do not have a custom php.ini file will use PHP 5.3 after the change.

If you wish to continue using PHP 5.2 after the update, you will need to follow the directions in this Knowledge Base article to add the PHP 5.2 handler before the update: http://portal.menkom.com.au/knowledgebase/45/How-to-Change-your-PHP-Version.html

This change may only really affect older websites build on older versions of CMS's if your website is a few years old it may affect you. If it does, we recommend to take the necessary steps to update your website.

This change is happening to stay inline with the latest security updates, faster website hosting speeds and able to support the latest web technologies
